Directions

Proceeding from Junction 36 of the M6 Motorway, follow the A591, (in Ings Village, just by the speed camera, you will pass a great pub, the Watermill, for a late lunch stop) through the outskirts of Windermere, following the signposts towards Ambleside. (By Windermere train station, you will pass Booths Supermarket, which is the biggest and best in the Lake District, if you need to stop to buy some food). Drive through Ambleside, signposted Grasmere. As you enter Grasmere, at the roundabout by the Wordsworth Musuem, turn left and follow the road through the village; it bends round to the right, by the Red Lion Hotel. Almost immediately after this, opposite Sams Bookshop, turn left, signposted Easedale Tarn. Follow for ½ mile, turn right just after a small bridge and just before a “no access for traffic” sign and follow for 300 yards. Rockwood is on the right, behind a white gate. Please enter the house through the back door.
